about us

History

Pacific Child and Family Associates (PCFA) began offering services to children with developmental disabilities, including autism, and their families in 1988. The organization was founded by Dr. Ira Heilevil, PhD (Chairman Emeritus) to provide a wide range of behavioral health services.  PCFA was an early proponent of Applied Behavioral Analytics (ABA) and quickly adopted this clinical methodology as the cornerstone of its services to children and families. Pacific Child and Family Associates now have offices in 5 states and delivers services in 27 states in total. To guide this growth we have established an executive team with national prominence in the behavioral health field (see biographies under the “About Us” section.

Pacific Child has made two recent strategic acquisitions that have diversified our core competencies; Children’s Learning Connection (CLC) of Orange County and Autism Services North (ASN) located in Pennsylvania.

  • CLC is an important acquisition because they have developed an integrated model in which numerous related services are delivered under one roof by one team. These services include ABA, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. This multi-disciplinary approach enhances integration of care resulting in improved outcomes.
  • ASN specializes in providing ABA services to children of military service men and women, both active and retired. ASN is recognized for its efforts to introduce technology in addressing the scarcity of professional resources in many service areas including rural counties and states. ASN is effectively delivering high quality, supervised ABA services in locations where it would not otherwise be possible by blending technological advancements with existing professional resources.

With the incorporation of these dynamic organizations Pacific Child and Family Associates has dramatically expanded our reach and scope. We have built an infrastructure that delivers exceptional clinical care supported by a robust Quality Assurance Department. We are positioned to deliver these high quality services on a national basis while simultaneously completing research that advances the field. We will maintain our role as a direct service provider and recognized Center of Excellence while also positioning the organization to assume the management and administrative responsibilities of the Autism benefit as the opportunities for this service emerge.
